Who says Mondays are boring? Start off the week right and join the Seattle chapter of the Asian American Journalists Association on Aug. 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. for our first-ever Chefs’ Showcase at the Columbia Tower Club. This happy hour-style networking event is open to journalists, professionals and foodies!
KING 5 Anchor Mimi Jung will host the festivities, which include demonstrations from celebrity chefs Lisa Nakamura (The French Laundry, Allium, Gnocchi Bar), Rachel Yang (Joule & Revel), Prometheus Brown (aka Geo from Blue Scholars) and Chera Amlag (Food & Sh*t), Tyler Hefford-Anderson (Executive Chef, Columbia Tower Club) and Steven Ariel (Canlis, Cafe Juanita, W Seattle).
Have we mentioned the location?! The view of Seattle from the Columbia Tower Club’s 75th floor location is reason enough to attend, but we’re happy to offer attendees some extras. Nosh on appetizers donated by a few of the chefs and area restaurants (Bloom and Taylor Hoang of Pho Cyclo Cafe). Taste a variety of wines from Vortex Cellars (Woodinville) and Tranche (Walla Walla). If you’re more into beer, then have no fear: A keg of classic Manny’s Pale Ale is at your disposal.
Attendees will receive a program book with recipes from the chefs and will also have a shot at raffle prizes, including cookbooks and gift certificates from Tom Douglas, Ethan Stowell and Trace at the W Seattle.
All proceeds from this event will go toward funding programs for AAJA Seattle.
General admission: $60 at the door
There are a few parking options: curbside, nearby garages or onsite underground parking for a fee. AAJA and Columbia Tower cannot validate parking. The Columbia Tower is also accessible from the 5th and James Street bus stop (0.1 mile; Routes 3, 4, 303, 304, 355) and the Pioneer Square Light Rail station (0.2 mile).
